The last time I visited St. Vincent and the Grenadines, I did a day trip to Bequia island. One of the coolest beaches I’ve ever visited, Princess Margaret beach is located just a little walk away from Port Elizabeth.
When I stepped off the ferry and finally touched land in Bequia, we didn’t know much about the layout of the land here. so we just began walking.
How to get to Princess Margaret Beach

All of the main attractions and touristy parts of Bequia are walkable and mostly follow the edge along the beach. The path to walk along the edge is called the Belmont Walkway. You can walk along here until you finally arrive at Princess Margaret Beach.
But, walking from Port Elizabeth all the way to Princess Margaret Beach is so interesting. There are many shops, cafes and restaurants along the way. I stopped at a cozy cafe called Sugar and Spice Cafe to get breakfast and coffee and I recommend you try it as well.
Along the path towards Princess Margaret Beach, you’ll come across resorts and some other bays as well.

You’ll come to a wall where you have to walk up some stairs into a slightly forested area that opens out to a really nice lookout. It’s a wooden lookout built along the side of the mountain face. I was surprised by how sturdy it felt despite how it looked.

When you walk down these stairs from the mountain, you’ll finally get to the water and there will be a really long pier that takes you to the sand. For me, half the experience was the walk to get here and slowly seeing everything unfold.
Princess Margaret Beach Review

Princess Margaret Beach is very much a typical Caribbean paradise that we all think of when we imagine the tropics. White sand and turquoise water with everything around you moving slowly. I thought that this beach was quite long and it took some time to walk the length of the entire thing. There is a backdrop of dense green and highly deadly manchineel trees. Followed by white sand and then water.
I genuine love beaches where there are natural ways to get shade from the sun if you need it. Obviously, we walked all the way down to the end of the beach to find the most quiet and secluded spot. The water is the same the entire way till the end and it’s full of sail boats and catamarans.
On the shore there are a couple tent areas that sell drinks and sometimes food. You can even rent kayaks and snorkeling gear from here to do snorkeling.
There are so many coral at the bottom of the water here that it attracts the most amazing looking marine life. I saw turtles, manta rays and an array of colorful fish.
When I was here the beach was actually very lively. There were people relaxing on the sand, a party of about 20 or so people using noodles and snorkeling. The entire beach is the spectacle and I thought that I could stay here for the entire day.
If you want something new and to go on a mini adventure, you could walk over to Lower Bay from here. Lower Bay is another beach just about 15 minutes way away.

If you’re looking for the best things to do in St. Vincent and the Grenadines or for things to do in Beqiua when you get here, a good place to start are my travel guides.
